It is important to keep dentures clean (whether a full set or partial dentures) and well-fitting. We encourage patients to continuously monitor how their dentures feel. To maintain proper function and health, it is advisable to have dentures checked regularly by a dentist. If you have a full set of dentures, yearly visits are recommended. Twice yearly visits are recommended for patients with partial dentures.

All dentures lose their fit through natural changes in the mouth. Chewing gum, biting your nails or grinding your teeth can accelerate this. For example, many patients report that their full dentures are loose after a period of rapid weight loss. By having regular checks, your dentures will maintain a good fit, which will enable you to keep leading a healthy lifestyle.

Keep your dentures clean and free from food that can cause stains, bad breath or swollen gums. Brush them every day with a denture care product and take them out at night to put them in water or a denture cleansing liquid.

Bob, our dental prosthesis technician visits our practice regularly and specialises in quality, well-fitting dentures. Bob’s dental laboratory is close by in Stafford which enables any denture repairs and relines to be completed overnight.
