What is Involved in Having a Crown Made?

Two dental appointments at our dentistry in Brisbane are required to have a crown made. At the first appointment, the tooth is prepared to remove decay/cracks and to allow the best retention of the crown. An impression of the prepared tooth is taken, which is then sent to the laboratory so the crown can be fabricated. You will leave the appointment with a temporary crown. At the second appointment, a couple of weeks later, your temporary crown will be removed and the permanent crown will be bonded in.

What is a Bridge?

A bridge is often required when there is a missing tooth. It is made up of several connected crowns. The teeth either side of the space are crowned and then a ‘pontic’ (floating crown) is attached to these crowns to fill in the space, giving you extra chewing power and also stopping teeth collapsing into the gap.
